Sisters raise over £11,000 in memory of their mum

A MAMMOTH exercise challenged undertaken by two Strabane sisters in memory of their mum has helped raise over £11,000 for the Foyle Hospice.

During the month of May SarahJane and Kate Fahy set themselves the task of walking, running or skipping their way through 800km. The challenge was planned to mark the first anniversary of the passing of the girls’ precious mum Patricia.

And now at the end of their challenge the sisters are reeling at the support they have received which has helped them raise over £11,500.

“We are overwhelmed and delighted by the generosity and support of our community,” Kate explained.

“It is amazing the amount we have raised all thanks to them, especially during what is undoubtedly a tough time financially.

“We know for certain our mum would be immensely proud of the amount we have raised and we knew she’d be telling us to go for the last push to reach £10,000, but even now we have exceeded that and raised over £11,500.

“We have appreciated the outstanding and unwavering support of our community and we look forward to rewarding one of them with a designer bag. The winner of the YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) handbag will be announced on July 12.”
