THE teenage victims of last night’s road traffic collision on the A5 Doogary Road have been named as Jamie Moore (19) and Kamile Vaicikonyte (17.
Tributes have been paid to Mr Moore, who was a security guard at the ASDA and Kamile, a year 13 student at St Ciaran’s College in Ballygawley.
It is understood that they were travelling south from Omagh when the collision happened.
Paul Lavery, principal of St Ciaran’s, said the entire school community has been shocked by the deaths, which took place two days after pupils took part in an event calling for the A5 road to be upgraded.
“We have been profoundly saddened by her death and our hearts go out to Kamile’s parents, sister and wider family circle; they are foremost in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time,” he added.
Niall Keyes, senior director with ASDA, described Mr Moore as a ‘lovely young man’ who had confidently taken on his new role at the store.
“A darkness has fallen over our employees in Omagh and all those who knew Jamie. It is an absolutely terrible tragedy,” he added.
