THE new school year at Drumragh Integrated College has got off to a good start with the addition of two brand new classrooms.
Two new state of the art mobile classrooms were added to the site of Drumragh Integrated College in Omagh on Saturday morning.
One of the classrooms will be used as an ICT room and it is hoped that the rooms will be ready to use in November, once they have been fitted out and equipped.
With the number of students at the school increasing, the classrooms will provide much needed additional learning space for students and staff.
Acting principal John Dennison welcomed the expansion and said he is looking forward to the day they are up and running.
Mr Dennison said, “The two large classrooms are very modern and look kind of Scandinavian.
“The classrooms will give us extra space and flexibility.
“We hope the area will be a lovely space for the kids to be in.
“They were given to us because the school is getting bigger and we needed extra provision for the students.
“There has been a huge amount of work done over the summer getting everything laid out and prepared for the mobiles arrival.
“It was a slick operation and we are so glad to get the additional classrooms.
“They will give us more space, extra learning provision and more ICT facilities which will be a huge benefit to the school,” said Mr Dennison.
With use of technology growing everyday, Mr Dennison is hopeful that the ICT room will equip students with the right skills they need for the future.
Mr Dennison continued, “One of the new rooms will be be fully equipped as an ICT room, and it will enhance our ICT facilities and the provision for the future.
“Given the new emphasise on blended learning, training for staff and the way the world is going, it will be a big advantage to our staff and our students.
“The whole world of ICT is changing and the fact that we have advanced ICT provision allows us to prepare kids for their future and the marketplace too,” concluded Mr Dennison.
