People in the Omagh area, who do not have any symptoms of Covid-19, are being encouraged to undertake regular rapid testing to help reduce the spread of the virus.
A temporary walk-in test site is open at South West College, Omagh where people without Covid-19 symptoms can go without an appointment to undertake a test using rapid Lateral Flow Devices (LFDs). The assisted testing site is open every day up to and including Friday 9 July 2021, from 10am-4.30pm.
Rapid Lateral Flow Device home-testing packs are also available to collect from Omagh’s ‘Connect Centre’ at Strule House, 16 High Street, Omagh, Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm and from Lisanelly Avenue car park, Omagh, Monday to Sunday 3pm-8pm.
Rapid Lateral Flow Device test packs can also be ordered online by visiting www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests with packs delivered directly to people’s home.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: “Up to 1 in 3 people who have Covid-19 don’t have any symptoms and can spread the virus without knowing to family and friends.
“Rapid testing can help to detect cases and limit the spread of the virus. By making rapid Lateral Flow testing kits widely publicly available, we are being given the opportunity to play a crucial role in reducing the spread of the Covid -19 virus so that a return to normality and the prospect of brighter days ahead can be brought forward.
“I would urge everyone to avail of these test kits and play their part in moving forward safely together.”
Rapid Lateral Flow Device test kits are also available for workforce testing.
Rapid test kits are available to small businesses with 10 employees or less, with staff unable to work from home, by completing an expression of interest form available on the Covid-19 page on Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s website at www.fermanaghomagh.com
Businesses with 10 employees or more can register for Lateral Flow Device testing kits from the Department of Health by visiting www.health-ni.gov.uk/rapid-tests
Anyone who gets a positive Lateral Flow Device test result should self-isolate and book a confirmatory PCR test at one of the testing sites within the district immediately and follow the advice thereafter.
