Dooher wants more from Roes

AMBITIOUS Owen Roes have no intentions of letting up on their Intermediate Championship glory pursuit after seeing off the pre-tournament favourites Aghyaran in the last round, attacker Michael Dooher insists.

Two superb second half goals from Dooher and Peter Kirk proved the key scores for the Glenmornan men and provided them with a sufficient cushion to be able to fend off a late St Davog’s rally as they took the derby spoils at O’Neills Healy Park 2-9 to 2-7.

Next up for Paddy Campbell’s charges is Clogher in the quarter-finals this Saturday afternoon at Killyclogher and while it’s a dangerous assignment, Dooher maintains that his side are quite happy to deal with the added expectancy levels.

“ We didn’t really see ourselves as underdogs before the Aghyaran game. Our mentality is to try and push onto the next level and hopefully we can prove that next weekend and maybe even after that.

“ The end goal is to win the Championship. We wouldn’t be out slogging at training in the winter time if we didn’t think we were going somewhere.”

Owen Roes had their tactics spot on for the Aghyaran contest, soaking up pressure and then breaking to devastating effect, with their county star Cathal McShane a growing influence as the contest unfolded.
