MOORTOWN are now the last team standing for Tyrone in the Ulster Club championships as they beat Erne Gaels of Fermanagh in provincial quarter final tie.
Brian McLarnon was the star man for the St Malachy’s whose 3-12 to 2-5 win was fully deserved.
Goals from Blaine Ryan and Lee Kelly in the first half set them on the road to the win. They led by 2-5 to 0-3 at the break, as the movement and creativity of Brian McLernon, Peter Devlin, Christopher McGuigan and the midfield partnership of Tarlach Quinn and Blaine Ryan proved very effective.
Erne Gaels did manage a goal early in the second half, but Moortown were in no mood to let them back into the game. Instead, they pressure ahead as points from Brian McLernon, Peter Devlin, Christopher McGuigan and Karl Hagan all fired over points.
A goal from Lee Kelly 10 minutes from the finish put the seal on the win for them.
They now go forward to play Tir Na Og of Randalstown in the Ulster semi-final on the weekend of Sunday December 19.
