Hugely successful maiden event at Youth Sport Omagh

YOUTH Sport Omagh hosted its first track and field meeting when a host of All-Ireland champions and local athletes descended upon the top-class facility to compete in an event organised by Strabane couple, Trevor and Ann-Marie McGlynn.

Trevor, who competes for and coaches at Omagh Harriers, was blown away by the support he received from his clubmates on the night but also by the performances from the athletes, who represented Letterkenny AC, City of Derry, Olympian AC (Derry) Dundrum South Dublin, Cookstown, Mid Ulster AC, Monaghan AC, Finn Valley and the host Harriers.

“It was really, really good, it was a brilliant night,” beamed Trevor.

“It went off so smooth thanks to a lot of help from everyone. Omagh Harriers all got stuck in, it was really, really good because I got a lot of support from everyone at the club.

“We have learned so much as a team, but it couldn’t have been done without the officials from Omagh Harriers. I really can’t thank them enough because without them it wouldn’t have run as smoothly as it did. They were so good and it was unbelievable – I’ve never had so much support in anything in my whole life.

“Some of the big clubs in Ireland came to us and we had so many All-Ireland champions there, there was so much to get excited about!”
