STRABANE father and son, Martin and Jack Cairns enjoyed a successful outing at Nutts Corner during the latest round of the SW Adair Tyres NI Sprint Championship.
Jack was 2nd in the 8-valve Rally car class driving an R2 Fiesta, while Derek Robinson from Killadeas was 3rd.
Jack’s father Martin won the Four Wheel Drive Rally car class in his R5 Fiesta, two seconds ahead of Oliver Cormican’s VW Polo.
Meanwhile, the phrase ‘better late than never’ seems particularly apt for Adrian Pollock’s performance at Nutts Corner.
The reigning champion, who has won the overall crown in each of the last two seasons, found himself 0.7 of a second behind last term’s runner-up Steven Gault after two of the three runs, with Alan Cassells in second.
Pollock can never be discounted though and the Omagh man dug deep to record a final run a second faster than his rival to seal victory by .29 of a second in his Dallara F301.
