KILLYCLOGHER manager Mark Henry insists that their patchy league form so far in 2021 should exclude them from membership of the ‘Championship Fancied Contenders’ Club.
St Mary’s tackle Donaghmore tonight (Thurs) in the first round of the Senior Championship in what looks a tricky assignment for the Ballinamullan boys, who have reached three of the last six O’Neill Cup Finals.
The prospect of a fourth appearance in the County showpiece is not the immediate priority at this juncture for Henry who appreciates the nature of the challenge which Donaghmore could pose this evening at ONeills Healy Park.
“ The way we are coming into this I wouldn’t describe us as one of the fancied teams that is for sure.
“Donaghmore beat us in the league up there and that was at a time
when we had most of our players available.
“ They have had a much more consistent league campaign than we have had.
“Bar their first game with Carrickmore they have been very competitive against every club they have played.”
