Killyclogher 2-13 Trillick 1-16
It took penalties to separate Trillick and Killyclogher in Friday night’ senior championship quarter-final.
In a game of high drama, neither team was able to dominate.
While there were some fantastic scores on show, both sides were guilty of missing the target on far too many occasions.
Mark Bradley stood out for Killyclogher, as did Tiernan McCann who made a string of charging runs through the middle. Matthew Murnaghan and Simon O’Neill played well.
For Trillick, Lee Brennan had a fine game and stroked over some big scores. James Garrity and Mattie Donnelly were busy players.
Trillick were 1-8 to 1-6 in front at half time, though Killyclogher were 1-2 to 0-1 ahead after ten minutes when Mark Hayes got the first goal.
In the second half, Killyclogher edged ahead but Trillick pegged them back to level the game 2-11 to 1-14 at full time.
There were just four points scored in the extra time. Three in the first half, and one in the second half, the equaliser from Trillick’s Lee Brennan.
When it came down to penalties the decisive moment came when Ryan Kelly saved Killyclogher’s fifth spot kick from Niall McFadden.
