A QUARTET of Red Hand stars made their mark at club level as Errigal Ciaran and Dromore set up an intriguing semi-final showdown next weekend.
The St Dympna’s were narrow 0-6 to 0-5 winners over Omagh, while Errigal disposed of Dungannon in the second quarter final by 1-16 to 1-11.
It means that they will now meet in the semi-finals next weekend.
Niall Sludden missed the start of Dromore’s clash against the St Enda’s through injury. But he came on for the second half and made a real difference for them. He hit two points and was fouled for another as Peter Teague and Ronan McNabb senior also excelled for the reigning county champions.
But they had to battle right to the finish against the St Enda’s. A point from Barry Tierney left the minimum between them late on, but the St Enda’s missed a number of chances, as swapped points between Niall Sludden and Ronan Strain completed the scoring.
A brilliant goal from Ruairi Canavan in the seventh minute held the Dunmoyle-based side make their mark against Dungannon in a repeat of the 2020 county semi-final.
It climaxed a brilliant move also involving his brother, Darragh. Errigal led by 1-6 to 0-6 at half-time, and continued to excell on the resumption as well.
Paul Donaghy, Paddy Quinn and the Jones brothers, Dalaigh and Ryan, and Ciaran Barker worked hard for the Clarkes. But their efforts fell just short and a goal from Oran Mallon deep in added time came too late to make a difference.
