PUPILS and staff from Gillygooley Primary School took part in a ‘Daily Mile Challenge’ for one week in November to raise vital funds for Children in Need.
Every day from Monday, November 15 to Thursday, Novermber 18, they did 13 laps of the school grounds – the equivalent of walking a daily mile.
Then, for a special treat on Friday, November 19, the whole school went on a trip to Glenpark Estate and completed their Daily Mile Challenge there!
A spokesperson for the school said, “It was a lovely round-up to the week for the pupils who got to do other fun activities too as well as completing their daily mile.
“It shows that our pupils and their families are full of generosity and are willing to go the extra mile.”
The children also ‘donated’ some of their miles to BBC Radio Ulster DJ Connor Phillips, after featuring on his popular show during the week of the challenge.
“We were glad to hear that he reached his goal with our help,” the school spokesperson
added.
The total raised by the school for Children in Need was £775.
