St Mary’s pupils bring ‘The Lion King’ to Killyclogher stage

One of the most successful Disney animated films ever, ‘The Lion King’, will be brought to colourful life later this month by the talented Year Seven pupils of St Mary’s Primary School, Killyclogher.

Taking place on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24 at Cappagh Parish Hall, Killyclogher with the curtain rising on both nights at 7.30pm, this heart-warming tale tells the story of a brave young lion prince, Simba, who lives in the flourishing African Pride Lands.

Simba, after losing his father in an accident which he feels he caused, must face his fear of responsibility and return to his inherited home and family to take his rightful place on the throne.

Speaking to the Ulster Herald, St Mary’s school principal, Carole McAuley, has described the show, which the pupils have been diligently rehearsing for weeks, as ‘uplifting’ and one not to be missed.

“The young St Mary’s cast will be bringing Simba’s journey to life with powerful messages of love, loss and learning which remind us of the importance of accepting responsibility and embracing one’s true identity,” she said.

“Please come along to our uplifting show, packed with catchy musical numbers to help us embrace the circle of life.

“The children will have you humming ‘Hakuna Matata’ for weeks!

“It’s a lively adaptation that is one not to be missed,” she added.
