PLANS have been submitted for five new glamping pods close to one of Co Tyrone’s top tourist attractions.
The proposal would see five pods built on land beside Ardboe Cross on the shore of Lough Neagh.
The pods would be built on poles to give a great view of the surrounding landscape.
The plans for the new glamping pods were submitted to Mid Ulster District Council last week and the final decision will rest with members of the council’s planning committee.
Ardboe Cross is a national monument dating from the tenth century.
It was the first High Cross built in Ulster. Standing at 18.5 feet high and 3.5 feet wide, this is the original stone cross, placed here over one thousand years ago.
There are also remains of a church and abbey beside the cross.
The abbey was founded by Saint Coleman in 590 and the church built during the sixteenth century.
