It’s all happening in Strabane next month as the final plans are put in place for the latest celebration of the sensational Summer Jamm outdoor festival.
This year’s event takes place on June 17 with a fantastic line up of entertainment for all ages, from live music and arts and crafts to cute critters and BMX biking.
Launching the programme this week, Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Sandra Duffy, said the festival would offer fun for all the family.
“The programme for this year’s Summer Jamm is fantastic with a diverse range of fun activities for all ages. There will be the usual brilliant line up of live music to get everyone into the swing, as well as street animation, petting zoos, market stalls, circus skills and much more throughout the day.
“Strabane town centre will be absolutely buzzing with visitors and the festival provides a fantastic boost to the local economy. Summer Jamm brings out the very best in the town with its strong community spirit and vibrant cultural scene. It’s just the perfect day out for families and the perfect way to welcome in the summer.”
The entertainment will be spread throughout the town centre with plenty to do and see over the course of the day. Castle Place will be ramping things up with the action-packed BMX Biking and Parkour Skills courses for kids and teenagers, as well as graffiti art for budding street artists. Britain’s Got Talent Star, Luke will even be dropping in specially to deliver the parkour workshop!
Main Street will host a range of attractions including live music, Kidz Farm, market stalls, the Loughs Agency Touch Tank, an array of training services, and even an appearance from the Strabane Brass Band. Step back in time to the Jurassic period in Castle Street and meet the Roar Roar Dinosaurs, stars of the baby dinosaur petting zoo, where young palaeontologists can feed, groom and find out more about Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Triceratops, Pachycephalosaur, Brontosaurus and Parasaurolophus.
There’s lots going on Abercorn Square and Railway Road as well, with street performances, street drumming, and circus school skills aplenty, not to mention a visit from the Bear Run with an array of fabulous top of the range cars on display. Finally top off the day with a visit to Cullens Funfair which will taking up residence in the Canal Carpark from June 16 – 25.
