After ten minutes of injury time, Coalisland came away with the spoils.
The first half was an exchange of scores, Coalisland led, Derrylaughan followed.
Coalisland opened the scorig through Cormac O’Hagan, Derrylaughan responded with a Thomas Carney score.
Tiarnan Quinn made it 0-2 to 0-1 for the Fianna, Carney equalised.
Plunkett Kane gave Coalisland the lead again, and then Darragh Carney hit the equaliser.
So at half time it was 0-3 apiece.
Coalisland dominated the early stages of the second half. Cormac O’Hagan’s two points and Tiarnan Quinn gave them a three point lead. Mark Robinson was sent off for Derrylaughan.
Things got even better for Coalisland moments later when Quinn hit the net, 1-6 to 0-3.
Then came the break due to a Derrylaughan injury, their goalkeeper was hurt during his attempt to save Coalisland’s bid for a goal. After the resumption, Coalisland added a point but Derrylaughan scored their goal, and then added a point to make it a three point game, 1-7 to 0-4.
The two teams traded points as the game edged into injury time, which was set at ten points due to the injury to the Derrylaughan goalkeeper.
With minutes left Coalisland led by three, 1-9 to 1-6. And they would hold on despite repeated attempts to breach their goal.
